All you need is love, but wouldn't a romantic weekend with your beloved be the icing on the cake? Help us compile our Valentine's month #GautrainPlaylist and you and your loved one could be in for some spoils!
From 4 to 11 February 2021, we'll be asking Gautrain followers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to suggest their favourite love songs to add to our very first #GautrainPlaylist for Valentine's month.
Feel free to enter as many times as you like, with the ballads that make your heart skip a beat and get you in the mood for romance. If you like, you can tag your loved one in your suggestion.
We'll be selecting the top 20 to add to our Valentine's playlist on Spotify, for you to download and enjoy while waiting for the Gautrain or bus, on the system or any time you like.
We'll also be choosing two winners from the 20 top submissions for the following swoon-worthy prizes:
- First prize: A weekend for two at the Protea Hotels by Marriott® Johannesburg Parktonian All Suite, Braamfontein, including meals (Ts and Cs apply), plus two Gautrain cards loaded with R500 each
- Second prize: A romantic luncheon for two at the Protea Hotels by Marriott® Johannesburg Parktonian All Suite, Braamfontein (Ts and Cs apply), plus two Gautrain cards loaded with R500 each

Terms & Conditions – #GautrainPlaylist Valentine's month competition
Terms and Conditions pertaining to the #GautrainPlaylist social media competition (February 2021).
The promoter of the competition is the Gautrain Management Agency (GMA). This competition is open to any person who is 18 years or older. Participants need to be residents of South Africa or South African citizens.
In order to enter and be considered for a prize, participants must comment on the #GautrainPlaylist posts on the Gautrain's social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) with their favourite love song, using the #GautrainPlaylist hashtag.
The competition starts on Thursday 4 February 2021 and runs until Friday 12 February 2021. The top 20 submissions for the playlist, as well as the winners, will be selected (by Flow Communications/GMA). Prizes will be awarded at the judges' discretion.
The following prizes will be awarded:
- First prize: Two-night weekend stay for two people at the Protea Hotels by Marriott® Johannesburg Parktonian All Suite, Braamfontein, including meals (either check in on a Friday and depart the Sunday morning or check in on a Saturday and depart Monday morning), inclusive of breakfast and dinner (to the value of R500 for 2 pax), plus a bottle of wine or sparkling wine of their choice and fruit juice. The meals will be served either in the restaurant/Sky Level (weather permitting) or room service, dependent on regulations and/or operational requirements. Plus, the winning couple will each receive a preloaded Gautrain card to the value of R500.
- Second prize: A romantic luncheon for two people at the Protea Hotels by Marriott® Johannesburg Parktonian All Suite, Braamfontein, served either on Sky Level (weather permitting) or in the restaurant. This will be a three-course meal to the value of R550, plus a bottle of wine or sparkling wine of their choice and fruit juice. Plus, the runner-up couple will each receive a preloaded Gautrain card to the value of R500.
The GMA or its digital marketing agency will contact each winner in order to make arrangements for him/her to redeem their prize. Positive identification will be required. The GMA may request the winner/s to be available to attend a handover function at the hotel, at a time to be mutually determined, to receive their prizes and explore the hotel. Winners and runners-up consent to being photographed for social media and other marketing purposes.
Inappropriate and/or explicit entries will not be accepted or considered for inclusion on the playlist. Tracks suggested must not contain explicit lyrics or titles. The GMA reserves the right to remove/delete any posts it may deem inappropriate. The GMA reserves the right to withdraw and/or alter any of the terms & conditions of this offer at any time without prior notice.
Employees of the GMA, the Bombela Concession Company, Flow Communications, Protea Hotels by Marriott, and the Gautrain’s advertising and promotion agencies and associated companies, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter the competition.
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Winners will be notified as soon as the decision is made, via email, telephone and social media, where applicable.
By accepting the prize, winners agree that the GMA will be entitled to publish their names and photographs, at no cost, in any advertising, promotional, print, point of sale or public relations material for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the end of the competition period. Participants and winners also authorise the GMA or its digital agency to share the submitted songs on social media and on a Spotify playlist. Participants and winners shall not be entitled to claim for any compensation.
All participants and winners indemnify the GMA, its organisers, associated companies, their advertising and promotion agencies, and their directors, officers, employees and agents, against any and all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever in connection with their participation in any way whatsoever in this promotion. Prior to awarding the prize, the GMA may require the winner to sign such an authorisation/indemnity.
By entering the competition, all entrants agree that any participation in this competition is subject to these terms and conditions, which will be interpreted by the GMA at its sole discretion, and that the GMA’s decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding. All information relating to this competition published on any promotional or advertising material in any media at any time before or during the competition period will form part of the terms and conditions of entry.
Indemnity and Waiver
By entering the competition, the participant agrees to the following: the GMA, their directors, affiliates, members, partners, employees, agents, consultants, suppliers, contractors and sponsors assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss or damage, howsoever arising from or as a result of a participant’s participation in the competition or for any loss or damage, howsoever arising.
The GMA reserves the right, at any time, to vary the nature of the competition or the prizes or to vary these terms and conditions or to withdraw the competition. In such event, all participants hereby waive any rights that they may have against the GMA and hereby acknowledge that they will have no recourse or claim of any nature whatsoever against the GMA, their directors, affiliates, members, partners, employees, sponsors, agents or consultants. Any amended terms and conditions published in any media will form part of the terms and conditions of the competition, to which terms entrants agree the competition is subject.
