Ride the Gautrain and kids get FREE* entry to Pretoria zoo

Gautrain is offering free* entry into the National Zoological Garden, located in Pretoria, for up to two (2) children per family who are twelve (12) years old or younger. 

This Promotion is valid between 14 December 2020 and 31 March 2021 for passengers travelling to Gautrain Pretoria station (“Promotion”).

Terms and Conditions – Kids Free Entry at Pretoria Zoo 2020/2021

1. In order to qualify for this Promotion:

    • Travel to the Gautrain Pretoria station on the Gautrain between 14 December 2020 and 31 March 2021, both dates inclusive.
    • Wrist band(s) will be issued by the promoter(s) situated at the Pretoria Gautrain station paid area between 08h00 and 13h00 daily.
    • Parents and/or guardians to ensure that child(ren) are wearing wrist band(s) obtained from the Pretoria Gautrain station upon entry to the National Zoological Garden located in Pretoria, in order to be granted free entry to the venue.
    • A wrist band may only be used once to gain free entry to the National Zoological Garden located in Pretoria. Wrist band(s) cannot be used for more than one (1) entry to the venue.
    • Free entry to the National Zoological Garden located in Pretoria, and the promotion wrist band(s) afforded by this Promotion, are neither transferable nor redeemable for cash or any other consideration.
    • Only Gautrain passengers who have travelled to the Pretoria Gautrain station on the Gautrain and collected a wrist band(s) for up to two (2) children per family, who are twelve (12) years or younger, from a Gautrain staff member situated in the paid area of the Pretoria Gautrain station are eligible for free entry into the National Zoological Garden located in Pretoria.

    2. How does this work?

         Step 1 – Gautrain website registration

    • For first-time users, Gautrain Cards may be purchased at any Gautrain station, either at the Ticket Office or by using the TVM (Ticket Vending Machine). The TVMs are similar to an ATM and accept cash and/or bank cards.
    • Value can be added onto a Gautrain Card at any Gautrain station, either at the Ticket Office or by using the TVM, Gautrain website or mobile app (the passenger has to have registered on the Gautrain website).
    • A parent or guardian is required to register on the Gautrain website at https://gautrainpromotions.co.za/freeride/gautrain-pretoria-zoo-2020/ and provide the date(s) of travel and age(s) of the child(ren) who will travel on the Gautrain on these date(s).

         Step 2 – Present confirmation

    • A confirmation email with a reference number will be issued via email after successful registration, which the parent or guardian must provide upon arrival at the Pretoria station.

         Step 3 – Redeem wrist band(s)

    • The parent or guardian of the child(ren) who qualify for the Promotion must visit the Promotion stand at the Pretoria station and produce valid proof of age, i.e. proof of birth certificate or passport of the child(ren) in their company in order to redeem promotional wrist band(s).

         Step 4 – Travel to the zoo

    • You have the option to board a Gautrain bus and travel to the National Zoological Garden in Pretoria (using the Gautrain bus is not compulsory in order to redeem the offer). 
    • Passengers must have a valid Gautrain Card or contactless (bank) card to board a bus. Cash is not accepted on the buses. One Gautrain Card or contactless (bank) card must be used per passenger. The standard bus fare will apply; refer to the Gautrain website for bus schedule and fares.

         Step 5 – Present the wrist band(s) 

    • Present the wrist band(s) upon entry at the National Zoological Garden. The wrist band(s) will be scanned and one free entry per wristband will be granted.
    • Free entry is only applicable to a maximum of two (2) children per family who are twelve (12) years or under.

    3. All standard Gautrain rules are to be observed at all times. Penalty fees may be applied should passengers fail to adhere to the Gautrain rules. Please refer to the Gautrain website for Gautrain travel rules.

    4. All standard National Zoological Garden rules are to be observed at all times. The National Zoological Garden reserves the right to restrict entry to any person who fails to observe such rules.

    5. Please note the following visiting hours for the National Zoological Garden located in Pretoria:

    • The National Zoological Garden is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including public holidays.
    • Tickets to the National Zoological Garden are available from 08h30 to 16h30 daily and the National Zoological Garden closes at 17h30.

    6. This Promotion is not open to any director, member, partner, employee or agent of, or consultant to the Gautrain or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Gautrain, who Gautrain employs or who is a supplier of goods or services in connection with this promotion.

    7. To the extent permissible by law, Gautrain is indemnified for any direct loss, indirect or consequential damages that are as a result of participation in this promotion.

    8. Gautrain reserves the right to amend, cancel, suspend or terminate the promotion without prior notice.

    9. All Covid-19 regulations as stipulated throughout the Gautrain stations and on the Gautrain website must be fully adhered to at all times.
